Prouse Plumbing, Heating & Electrical Supply Company has a rich history tied to the town of Tillsonburg. Generations of Prouses’ have brought their various expertise to this family-run business, resulting in the leading luxury home and commercial renovation supply company that stands today-a company that successfully meets the needs of contractors and home-owners alike. But how did we get here?
In 1978 Hugh Prouse founded Prouse Electric Ltd. Hugh began his career as an electrician working for a local electrical company at the time. Hugh always had a business mindset and an entrepreneurial spirit, opening his business out of his home-based shop in Norfolk County Hugh focused on creating strong relationships with folks who he wanted to work with. When chatting with Hugh about some of his first jobs he recalls a Church, located just outside of Glen Myer, he and his son Richard completed the electrical for this newly built church that still stands today.
Hugh and his wife, June, had 6 children, who as they grew, largely started careers in the trade industries. Hugh’s focus on quality work has been the guiding principle through our numerous expansions over the years.
Over the years Bob had the pleasure of training many talented apprentices who have all gone on to successful careers. His passion for exceptional, quality work led to valuable community partnerships such as Baldwin Place, Siemens and Johnson Controls- all local endeavors that kept the Town of Tillsonburg thriving by employing many of its residents. With electrical, HVAC and plumbing all available under one roof- Bob and Deb needed to expand their footprint from Tillson Avenue to 75 Spruce Street, where it remains today.
Now, an Employer of Choice in Tillsonburg, the family still works together-Bob even swings by daily, and is happy to help with any task assigned that needs doing!
With generations of experience, and an eye on the future, Joel and Jaime continued to support the infrastructure advancements in Tillsonburg and surrounding area, by serving contractors and homeowners alike. Making the decision to halt as a contractor and re-open as a showroom was not a decision this brother and sister team took lightly. They knew that something had to shift in order to ensure the quality of the company.
After many long discussions and the proper market research the decision was made, the change over process was a challenge but they persevered and could not be more proud of their team and the final outcome.
We are pleased to announce that we have evolved! In 2023 we opened as Prouse Plumbing, Heating & Electrical Supply Company, complete with a renovation showroom for both Contractors and Homeowners. We look forward to providing exceptional service to our customers along with a wide variety of products.
We took over the family business in 2016 and are so excited to bring the Prouse name into this next chapter of its well-known reputation.
In 2022 we were proud to be voted the best Electrical Contractor in Tillsonburg, working on large scale projects in the area – such as John Pound Apartments, Harvest Crossing Retirement Building and the Siemens Tillsonburg Plant. We serviced all sectors; residential, industrial, agricultural and commercial, providing the numerous apprentices that worked for us a wide range of experience.
Since then, we chose to take a new direction and explore the concept of opening Tillsonburg’s first independent Kitchen & Bath showroom. We recognized the demand for high-quality, visually appealing finishing options that are locally accessible. This motivated us to rebrand the company and create a space that serves as a valuable resource for all homeowners and contractors in the area.
With an education background in both Accounting and Design Jaime worked outside of the family business for many years enhancing her skills and gaining the knowledge she knew she would need to step into the role she has today. Knowing that her parents wanted to retire together to enjoy some travel and several golf courses she was ready to take the reins and dove in head first.
Jaime has a desire to stay current and doesn’t mind shaking things up in order to do so. She believes in the team at Prouse and sets them up for success in their roles through utilizing their strengths and creating streamlined processes within the company.
Jaime’s passionate about this new adventure they are taking the company on. As the third generation she is determined to set the bar even higher to ensure sustainability, she is hopeful that the 4th generation may take it even further.
Jaime and her husband Michael have two beautiful children and a pretty handsome Bull Terrier named Max. They enjoy spending time on their boat, fishing Lake Erie. Sneaking in a round of golf when they can and of course walking their dog Max. Jaime is really looking forward to a life of travel as her bucket list continues to grow.
Jaime is truly grateful to her father and grandfather for laying a strong foundation that she together with Joel can build upon.
When Joel was in high school, he began his apprenticeship with Prouse Electric. Juggling school; his social life and many sports, Joel engaged with his natural abilities around the tools and appreciated the opportunity to work in the trenches with the team at Prouse Electric. Some of his favourite memories are those early days where he learned the true meaning of hard work and comradery.
Joel earned his 309A Electrical Ticket. Working as an electrician came naturally to Joel and he loved (still does) the challenge of designing, problem solving and later teaching. Joel went on to obtain his Industrial ticket along with his Masters. Later in his career he continued his education and obtained his G3 (Gasfitters).
Passionate about teaching, Joel has always enjoyed watching the motivated young people come into the workforce and help them discover their passion and use their talents to build a career in this ever-important industry.
With Joel’s experience of being the contractor for the past 25 years he is really looking forward to providing quality service to the contractors striving to have what they need when they need it.
Joel and his wife Jodi have been together for 20 years. Building a beautiful life together with 2 children they enjoy watching them grow and explore the great outdoors. Joel loves spending time outside riding with his family, he is passionate about teaching his kids and their friends the importance of safety while having a really great time, this has come to be known as Joel’s JR Riders. A true family man, Joel is looking forward to having more time to enjoy life’s greatest gifts with his family and friends.
